image and recipe: The Speckled Palate
Though I think it's pretty much the grossest thing ever to have to touch, I love making meals with ground chicken (way better than ground turkey) - it's so great for lettuce wrap filler, meatballs, and also interesting burgers like one I have made a bunch of times with pesto - and now there's this to add to the repertoire!
The burgers themselves are pretty quick and easy to put together, and I love that they're slider size, as this is much easier to cook (ground chicken doesn't seem to hold together quite so well as ground beef). I had Peter grill them, which made it even easier - ha! And then you don't have to go as fancy on the slaw, but I really liked her avocado slaw recipe. Also even better when served with some extra BBQ sauce on top.

The only thing is that ground chicken can sometimes be hard to come by - the local farmer who brings meat to our farmer's market does usually have it, luckily, but I think you can also ask at places like Whole Foods for the butcher guys to turn some chicken into ground chicken for you.
Have you tried any ground chicken recipes?
yum! these look so good! I've used ground chicken for tacos before! xo jillian - cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteIt's the best when a Pinterest recipe ends up being a success! I never think to use ground chicken for anything other than lettuce wraps, but I think we did have a ground chicken burger with a Blue Apron meal once, and it was really good.
ReplyDeleteThese sound delicious and pretty easy! I will be saving this post.
ReplyDeleteSo happy that you enjoyed these burger bites, Anne! I'm totally with you on ground chicken being super gross, but the end result is worth the trouble. ;) Here's to more burger bites this summer!
ReplyDeleteI love a good burger, especially one that's different from the traditional (although I won't turn down a classic cheeseburger either!). These sound delicious, especially with avocado slaw...yum. We use a lot of ground turkey at my house but I don't do as much ground chicken--I need to venture out and try that more. (You're so right though, ground meat in general has a less than appealing texture.)
