five things Friday: diaper bag search edition

Sooo many things to do in the 10ish weeks before baby comes - there are checklists galore and way too many decisions to make, from pediatricians to birth plans to car seats to crib sheets. Picking a diaper bag is on my list too, and while I'm overwhelmed by the choices out there, at least it's kind of fun. It's more like purse shopping!

Of course I want something that will fit practical baby stuff-toting needs, but I also want something that goes with everything and is stylish and suited to my style so that I'll like toting it around all the time - something that would pass for a great handbag.

Here are five options I'm waffling amongst (and there's nothing like dropping a few hundred dollars here and there on cribs and doula services and nursery rugs and such to make you feel like some of these are reasonably priced... but I do want something I love and that's good quality, so I'm okay with a little bit of a splurge here):

1. Hudson tote from DwellStudio - love the color blocking, especially the congac, and that it has straps to hang on a stroller, but the chocolate color isn't exactly going to match the black stroller. Dumb concern?

2. Stevie baby bag by Kate Spade - neutral base that would go with everything, with some pops of fun color to keep it interesting.

3. Colorblock tote by Storksak - how fun?! And the option to do use the hands-free cross-body strap is useful. But would I get tired of the yellow? Perhaps not quite as versatile.

4. Sasha crossbody bag by Marc Jacobs - this one actually is a handbag, rather than a diaper bag, and I adore it. It's nylon and large, so it'll hold up and hold a lot, but then again the downside is it's a handbag rather than a diaper bag, so it doesn't have specific baby-friendly pockets, etc.

5. Hobo bag by Danzo - again the nice cross-body option, and it looks like a stylish handbag that I'd be happy carrying (also comes in some other nice colors) - but it's kind of ginormous and might dwarf me.

Thoughts on functionality? Or opinions purely on looks?

  1. I love them all! #5 might be the most practical. I have one my Kate Spade and absolutely love it. It always gets a ton of compliments too. :)
