he's here!

I didn't expect in the least that the day I picked to share a typical day in my life would turn out to be the absolute least typical of my 29 years - just about 15 minutes after the post went up, our baby boy made his appearance into the world!

I really didn't even have any idea when I went to bed Monday night that I'd be holding a baby in my arms the next morning, until I woke up a little after midnight with painful contractions for the first time. Things progressed quite quickly, and within 4 hours of arriving at the hospital we finally got to meet little Henk after all these months of anticipation.

We were very blessed that everything went almost textbook perfect for a natural labor and delivery (aside from the progressing way quicker than I expected) and that Hendrik is a healthy baby. We're settled back at home now figuring out this newborn parenting thing, quite tired but so happy with our little creation.
