This year I really tried to go simple and inexpensive by adding just a few touches to a few rooms, and re-using or DIYing pretty much everything (with the exception of a few ornaments and a new throw pillow, because who can resist Target throw pillows). Hendrik's book-a-day advent calendar makes a great decoration in and of itself, plus he loves his little personal tree in the playroom. The big tree pretty much isn't even decorated at all, aside from the few crocheted snowflakes I have from my great grandma, but the lights on it, plus the ones on the mantel, are pretty much all I need to feel lots of holiday cheer on these dark and snowy evenings. That and cookies - isn't the personalized baking pan from Personalized Creations (c/o) great for giving a little hint of what's on the inside?
I linked to some of these favorite simple-but-festive items above, and if you want to check out the non-holiday version of the rooms, here we have the living room, dining room, and playroom.
Simple and beautiful! I love the book a day advent calendar.
