doing: my best to reign it in on the Christmas decorations. I so want to go buy all the things, especially at Target, but I'm trying to stick to mostly what we have, but using it in new ways. Except maybe I really do need these ornaments that would look so good with my living room decor... I'll share an update of last year's decor next week!
enjoying: how much Hendrik is enjoying the leadup to Christmas this year. We've been doing it all - hot cocoa outings, the lights parade, picking out a tree, cutting out cookies. I also gave him a tiny tree from our apartment days for his playroom to decorate, undecorate, and redecorate to his heart's content, and he's loving the book-a-day advent calendar so much. Oh what fun, indeed!
cooking: more like cookie-ing. We're already two batches in, thanks to the cookie decorating party we had over the weekend - though this year's turned out a lot more sprinkle-covered, thanks to the number of small children involved.
wrapping: up a couple of final gift grid guides for this season (and trying to avoid the temptation of scalloped flats from the Shopbop one for myself...and, okay, pretty much everything from their own gift guides). I have so much fun coming up with these categories and arranging them to my type-A organized personality delight, so I hope you enjoy and get some good ideas from them!
playing: all my favorite Christmas music, which really doesn't ever change. It just makes me so happy to have one month a year when I get to pull out these favorite albums that I don't even bother to find anything new...
What are you currently up to this holiday season? Join Kellie of The B Hive and me and share below! And then plan ahead for the first Currently of 2017, when Jessica of An Immeasurable Joy will co-host for gathering, making, sipping, following, resolving.

I bet H is just the perfect age to be enjoying all the festivities. Glad you guys are soaking it all in :) I love having Christmas music on all day every day... just makes the house/car so fun!
ReplyDeleteYour son is at a great age to celebrate the holidays! Everything is fun and exciting for everyone when they're young!
ReplyDeleteOur month is very similar! I love the book advent calendar - what a fantastic idea!
ReplyDeleteI love the Sufjan Stevens Christmas music! And I want to buy all the Christmas things too, I have a bigger tree this year and I keep finding bare spots that I want more ornaments for!
ReplyDeleteI'd totally buy those ornaments. They might not be there next year!
ReplyDeleteI love the categories you do for your gift guides! They are different and more specific (and therefore more helpful) than any other blog gift guides I've found before. So yay, Anne! :)
ReplyDeleteWe used to have baby trees in our rooms as kids growing up---such a special way to make Christmas even more magical for the kids!
I love the Christmas music, too! We are having an annual day of baking this weekend with some of my favorite ladies and I'm so excited! :)
ReplyDeleteA cookie decorating party sounds so much fun! I haven't done much Christmas baking yet. Hopefully I can squeeze some in before all the festivities are over!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying my best to avoid the holiday section at Target this year, at least until after Christmas clearance. I spent way too much time/money there last December!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to stay away from Target! So much cute stuff. And I love your gift grids!
ReplyDeleteThis year, Christmas time has truly been magical for this age :) Love it! And I'm so sad I won't be enjoying a cookie decorating party at your place again...that was so much fun!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm really excited for Phoenix to be at an age where he can really get into all of the awesome aspects of holidays. I went to a Christmas exchange a few years ago and it was so much fun. I'd love to start doing one now that we have a house. Maybe next year when I get my act together. HA!
ReplyDeleteI'm having some issues with my purchasing of Christmas decor as well but then my husband made the comment that not all the bins were full that he just bought, so I went to Hobby Lobby & bought some more. Ha!
ReplyDeleteSufjan Stevens--YASSS! I love that Christmas album. Thanks for hosting the link-up! Can't wait to add my link tomorrow :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your post on the book a day for Christmas! We are doing an activity a day, but I can totally see Aiden LOVING the book countdown too. I love the books you picked too and of course your display is amazing!!! I love this time of year!
ReplyDeleteYes, the Christmas excitement is real around here too. 3 is such a fun age for this time of year--and it's such a nice reminder when I'm feeling frustrated about all the other things that 3 is NOT a fun age for. I'm terribly behind on blog reading, but I'm looking forward to checking out your gift grids--you always have such great ideas!
ReplyDeleteDiscovered you and Kellie and your Currently link-up through my buddy Michael Ann who blogs at OutandBack. Penciling in the date for your next Currently link-up into my agenda. Going to write up a quick Currently for December right now to link-up here. I would like to think I am also a resident artist (art ed major) and writer at my house. Your blog is lovely. As a librarian, I totally LOVE your book-a-day advent calendar. Yay, you. And such a great idea to give your babe a tree to decorate for his room. Genius.
ReplyDeleteI 100% advocate buying ALL of the ornaments!!! No but seriously I think you need them ;) Happy December!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get to cookie-ing this weekend! I am super stoked to do some holiday baking! I am so tired of most of my holiday decor, the struggle is real!
ReplyDeleteHappy holidays! Glad to hear you are getting in all the fun activities leading up to Christmas. Thanks for hosting the link-up :-)
