So if you celebrate Christmas, here's what I want to chat about:
- What's the #1 item on your Christmas list this year?
- Do you wrap gifts as you buy them, or save it all to do at once?
- Real tree or artificial?
- What's your favorite holiday recipe?
- Did you ever believe in Santa?
Here's what I've got to say:
- What's the #1 item on your Christmas list this year? Wireless headphones - for tangle-free podcast listening while I do chores
- Do you wrap gifts as you buy them, or save it all to do at once? On a rolling basis - I like to see things under the tree...and Hendrik really likes to see things under the tree
- Real tree or artificial? Now that we have plenty of space (and high ceilings), real!
- What's your favorite holiday recipe? For about the zillionth time I have to mention my favorite family recipe for cutout cookies - it's just not Christmas without them
- Did you ever believe in Santa? Nope. We just didn't do the Santa thing growing up, and I'm not doing it with Hendrik either, telling him it's a character in a book, like Thomas and Winnie the Pooh are characters. That works for us, but still kind of paranoid he's going to be the kid to ruin it for some other 3-year-olds at school or something...
I'll be taking next week off to enjoy the holidays with family - wishing you the merriest of times too!
Enjoy your 2 days off work and have a very, merry Christmas!! My answers...
ReplyDelete#1- A wireless printer, which I actually already got since we've had 2 celebration already- lol
#2- I try to wrap as I go because the tree definitely looks better with gifts under it!
#3- Artificial. Allergies will probably never allow us to have a real one.
#4- My momma's m&m cookies :) :) :)
#5- We never did the Santa thing growing up either, but Jared did and wants to do it with T so we'll see what happens
Merry Christmas Anne! Love these cocktail chats, such a fun read. :)
ReplyDelete#1 - a Cricut Explore - just imagine all the crafting possibilities...
#2 - I used to wrap as I go, since I also love seeing them under the tree, but Aubrey likes to unwrap them, so I've been holding up for a marathon wrapping session tonight...
# 3 - Artificial. We just never had one growing up, but they do smell lovely.
#4 - My grandmother's cutout butter cookies. Yum.
#5 - You know, I don't really remember? I think no, though we still had fun putting out Santa's milk and cookies even though we knew it was fake.
I always think these are so fun! :)
ReplyDelete1. I'm still not great about making Christmas lists, but I'm most excited to see if any goodies from The Jones Market (my favorite local business here in Columbus, Ohio) make it under the tree. I've had my eye on a few necklaces to add to my collection! I'll add to this one and say the gift I'm most excited to give is stockings to my parents. Me doing stockings for them is a tradition I started maybe back in college and it's just fun to find little random treats to give them in addition to their presents.
2. All at once because I like to see what I've bought for people as I go along. So thankful for getting all of it done yesterday during a really long nap for my son so that I'm not up late doing it tonight like the procrastinator I am. :)
3. Grew up with a real tree that we always picked out and cut down ourselves from the same tree farm, but artificial at our house which I hate to admit but like because it's easier. We gladly tagged along with my parents this year though to pick out theirs!
4. We've never had a dish that was always on the table at the holidays from what I remember and my dad always loves to experiment with the menu. Popovers always seem like a good treat for a special occasion though so I made some this morning!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
5. Yes but don't remember when or how the gig was ended for me though. We'll have some fun with it I'm sure but know I'll struggle about feeling dishonest though. I read a great post linked on Facebook the other day about how the writer transitions her kids when they start to not believe and I actually really loved the idea she uses! http://m.imgur.com/gallery/qHrK6
Ohh, I love these posts!
ReplyDelete1. A Kirk Cousins Michigan State jersey...and I got it!
2. I do all of mine at once! I love seeing them suddenly appear under my tree.
3. For my little apartment, artificial. I bought a beautiful rose gold one this year.
4. Swiss Corn Bake...which my sister and I lovingly call corn mush.
5. Yes I did :)
A rose gold tree?!? How cool!
DeleteI'm late to the cocktail party, but I love your questions!
ReplyDelete1. Wish list: Several books including Rick Bragg's My Southern Journey. I got a couple of books (including that one) AND book money! YAY!
2. Wrapping: This year most of it was done on Dec 23. Yikes! Cutting it too close!
3. Tree: Artificial again this year, but I want a real one next year.
4. Recipe: SO MANY! But I'll put my MIL's apple cake recipe at the top.
5. Santa: I was terrified of store Santas when I was little, so my family played the game even though we knew the truth. We did the same with our kids. Kept some of the magic in it, but we knew to appreciate our parents. Win win!
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! Mine was quiet and lazy. That totally worked!
