Though I'm out of the baby stage of parenting, I'm still a mom with the
best baby bags on the brain - partly because my kid is still in diapers, and partly because even though we don't need the full-on diaper bag for running errands or trips to the library, we still need some specialized toddler gear for dinners out or full afternoons away - which happens a lot during the holiday season, of course.
So for all of our Christmas events this month - and especially this week - here's what we're carting around.
Our holiday event essentials for toddler include: entertainment in the form of
coloring/sticker play packs from the Target dollar spot (these things are amazing and worth way more than $1 in entertainment value!),
sippy cup (he's just not trustworthy enough with a regular one, especially when someone else's carpet is at stake!),
diaper clutch (don't need the whole kit and kaboodle anymore, but don't risk leaving the house without one),
wet wipes (for sticky hands and faces thanks to many holiday treats), extra mittens (because we are always misplacing them).
I think a leather backpack like this is perfect for
mom style, and complements many of
my favorite holiday outfits right now too.
For all of YOUR baby/kid bag needs, how about a $50 giftcard giveaway? Follow the instructions below to enter. Meanwhile I'm taking a trip down memory lane looking back at what I carried in my
baby bag of yore...

I love that bag! I definitely need to make the switch to a backpack diaper bag, the big satchel is not great for toddler chasing!
ReplyDeleteWe use the sticker play packs for church every week - they are a lifesaver for keeping my 5 year old son quiet. We have to carry Fruit Loops to keep the 3 year old quiet in church! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWe use a backpack for Cora and I've loved it. But I would love one that's a little nicer than the one we have that doesn't scream, "Hey, I have a kid and I'm wearing a backpack to haul all her stuff."
ReplyDeleteThe weirdest thing is usually something thrown in there from my 7 yr old but right now I'd have to say it's the tiny jar of grape jelly!!
ReplyDeleteI always keep an extra pair of socks. My kiddo has a talent for losing his!
ReplyDeleteI am notorious for always have a Mary Poppins-type bag or purse... if you need it, I probably have it. Nail clippers, bandaids, snacks, screw drivers... you never know :)
ReplyDeleteIt may not be WEIRD weird .. but I literally have 4 chapsticks in my purse. Why I need so many, I'm not sure!!
ReplyDeleteRight now just making sure I have milk in my diaper bag is key!
ReplyDeleteThe weirdest thing in my purse (which I don't find weird but other do) is a tape measure. I always carry one and it comes in handy a lot.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great transitional, kinda sorta diaper bag. I've just been shoving wipes, a diaper or two and gold fish into my regular purse, but you're way is so much cuter!
ReplyDeleteI'm soooo relaxed 2nd time around. I literally throw a diaper, yes, just one!! and wipes in my purse. I live on the edge.
ReplyDeleteBaby wipes! All the baby wipes. My kids are 2 1/2 & 5 1/2, and baby wipes are still used on the daily, whether for diapers or cleanups.
ReplyDeleteThe strangest thing in my purse is a dryer sheet to run over "static-y" hair or clothes in the winter.
ReplyDeleteI like to keep a few small toys in my diaper bag: right now it's Elmo and Cookie Monster!
ReplyDeleteI love that bag to use as a purse. I carry around goldfish and juice boxes for the grand kids.
ReplyDeleteWe have all the normal things, haha. The MVP are wipes though. Always wipes!
ReplyDeletehave tons of stuff in the diaper bag but lately i make sure to pack her pacifier. really helps during those random meltdowns!
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how relieved I am to hear that you're not the only one with a 3 year old still in diapers. We're trying again (starting tomorrow actually) with Jona but he just was NOT interested the last time we tried, and it seems like everyone I talk to is like, oh yeah we potty trained our 18 month old or something crazy like that. I know he's perfectly capable, he just didn't want to do it.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, the MVP in my bag right now is a burp cloth for all the various messes it can clean up. Also, honestly, my phone which can pull up Jona's favorite dancing mascot video if I forget to bring something for him to do (since I have to pack up the whole house for Violet).
Oh man I miss the days of a diaper clutch! I could get away with it back in the very early newborn days when my first daughter was born, and then again when she was a toddler and only child. But now I feel like Shea - packing the whole house!
ReplyDeleteI think kid stuff feels fairly standard. The weirdest thing I ever found in my purse/DB was the dogs winter snow booties. Jo threw them in while I was getting other things together.
ReplyDeleteI need to start to downsize like you...I need to check out the Target dollar section though- those sound awesome!

ReplyDeleteWe have the play packs! They are amazing. The weirdest thing in my purse is one sock from my daughter! Hopefully we can find the other one!
ReplyDeleteI love that bag. I wish I would have done a little more research with our diaper bag purchase. I'm thinking about keeping the one I have for occasions when I have to leave it with other people (i.e. church, etc) but investing in something that is more practical long term.
ReplyDeleteFor me it's boogie wipes! Love those things!
ReplyDeleteI always have a toy or two for Rhys in my bag and a book for me!
ReplyDeleteSomeone gifted us a pack of Boogie Wipes (amongst other diaper bag items) and they are my FAVE now. I always make sure to have a pack of those in the bag!
ReplyDeleteThe weirdest thing in my purse is a deck of playing cards.
