holiday home tour + hoop decor giveaway

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around these parts (and it's not just because of the 6 inches of snow). Well, I went slightly more "winter" with my decorations than full-on holiday, but the mix of fresh greens and cozy textures, plus pinks that match my existing decor, are leaving me feeling festive in the whole main floor of our house. Time for a tour - and be sure to stick around to the end, because there's a decor giveaway for you!

I kept things fairly simple this year overall, mostly reusing items from previous years, but changing things up a bit by moving them around a bit - lights garland in the dining room instead of the living room mantel, marquee star in the kitchen instead of the living room. Oh, and yes, this is a sneak peek of our allllllmost finished new kitchen. I don't usually decorate in here, but this year I'm so excited about the new room that I decided to add some "wreaths" made from leftovers of the front-door garland, and a few other little touches on the counter.

As usual, I spread around as much fresh greenery as I could, along with just a few little touches on the mantels, like putting some fun wrapping paper into the usual frame that's there, and some extra ornaments. Also back from last year is the book-a-day advent calendar displayed on the playroom shelves, and Hendrik is loving it again.

And then the most fun new addition: these hand-painted burlap hoops from Tina's shop on her blog, Go Big or Go Home. Since the playroom has more reds in the decor, rather than the pinks of our other rooms, I thought they were the perfect thing to add to Hendrik's shelves. The plaid one is seriously the cutest thing ever, and I also love that she was totally willing to customize one of the hoops, using the wrapping paper I have displayed in the dining room as an inspiration. Didn't she do a great job? Definitely go check out her shop - she's got several holiday sets up, but also stuff that would be great for other holidays or for personalized gift giving. There's a floral one that I'm itching to have customized to give as a baby girl gift.

You'll also want to check it out, because Tina's giving away one 10" hoop, or the equivalent price off of a custom hoop. Enter below to win!
