wearing lately: feeling kerchief-y

A couple of weeks ago I shared a mini capsule for our fall getaway weekend, which I loved the looks of... but then I was having one of those moments where the outfit I put on just didn't quite live up to expectations. Was feeling a little meh about my denim-on-denim, until I was scrolling through Instagram and saw this Madewell inspiration posted by Katie, and boom! Outfit made.

Just adding front tuck and tying that little square scarf around my neck (first time trying out this look! previously only used it as a bag tie), and what a difference in making this ensemble into an outfit. Suddenly I was feeling rather jaunty. Or kerchief-y, as it were.

With my cute (and comfy!) loafers it felt like the perfect chic-but-ready-to-walk city outfit for taking Hendrik to the children's museum and such. And then I've had it on repeat again at home, layered up with a sweater blazer for fall weather.

Wasn't sure this kerchief scarf style would be for me, but I'm pretty sold now - and definitely copying Dana's ponytail tie idea with it next.
