Wednesday wishlist

Just because I understand the realities of dressing for this time of year - it's still winter coats, not all the pretty spring things that retailers and influencers are peddling at the moment - doesn't mean I'm immune to some spring shopping desires... luckily just the act of making a wishlist can partially satisfy cravings.

Here are some things that have caught my eye in online browsing. I'm especially intrigued by the new-to-me site Vetta (advertised to me by Instagram, of course). They market their selections in the form of various capsules, like the casual capsule, the minimal capsule or the edgy capsule. In the capsules it looks like all of the pieces can all be worn in multiple ways - such as the jumpsuit on my wishlist, which can be worn as an apron front jumpsuit as shown, or a v-neck jumpsuit, or even just as pants/top. This ready-made capsule and versatility really appeals to my sensibilities... it's like my beloved old mix & match suitcase posts that I haven't gotten to do in FOREVER. But I actually might be having some work travel this summer, which has got my brain back in that mode a little. Curious if anyone out there has tried this company yet!

wearing lately: wishful thinking

Okay, not actually wearing any of this lately. But it's finally March, enough snow/ice has melted that we can actually see the driveway again, and I'm allowing myself to dream at least a little of the future - and with it, the wardrobe that I love. A few old favorites, a few new goodies... this is what I can't wait to be able to wear and accessorize with this spring:

And an assortment of related outfits that I have enjoyed in the past - ah, can't wait for bare ankles weather! I know the reality is that March is not spring in Michigan, but sometimes a little daydreaming gets a girl through.

making lately: a little wishlist

About two months in to this staying home business, and the retail therapy bug might be biting a little... until now I really was avoiding this, aside from necessary items and also a few items to keep Hendrik entertained, partly because in a world that felt so uncertain - not to mention in a world where I'm not going anywhere and nobody's coming to visit me - it seemed pointless to spend money on things for my own or my home's appearance.

Buuuut as this new world feels a little less surreal and more just like a new normal of daily life, and as I get a little tired of homeschooling, and as Mother's Day is coming up and I feel like I totally deserve a little treat for being a trooper here, I might have started doing a little online window shopping. These are mostly things that feel really legit for a life of staying home anyway - some little comforts and fun things.

Plus, exciting news that our master bathroom work is going to start up again - with the tile guy in a mask - so I'm feeling at least justified in browsing for room finishing touches for that!

wishlist Wednesday

Working on an upcoming bathroom renovation and looking at weather forecasts in the 40s has me curled up on the couch under a blanket, surfing the internet... and making a bit of a wishlist (which also might have gotten sidetracked into some other categories - the internet has a way of doing these things...).

What's on your wishlist lately?

wishlist Wednesday

There's nothing in the weather that warrants it, but my wishlist has gone decidedly summery. Here are some things I'd love in my life in the upcoming warmer months, from clothes to accessories to the best part: beach reads!

five things Friday: wishful thinking edition

I've been having to explain to Hendrik as we get into March that even when the calendar says "spring," the Michigan weather is not likely to comply. And same thing with what my favorite stores are currently stocking... but that doesn't stop me from adding things to my wishlist. Extra wishful thinking on being able to wear any of these 5 finds any time soon, but I love them all the same:

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

I sooooo miss wearing flats, and I was such a fan of the addition of the very comfy Rothy's loafers to my wardrobe last fall that I'm thinking the flats in my signature shoe color could be very well justified. Same with new versions of two other wardrobe favorites: I have the Athleta foothill tee in multiple colors and it is my favorite for working out, so the tank is bound to be great too. And the Aerie one-piece bathing suit was a surprise winner last summer - the fit is really quite flattering, enough that I am almost wearing out my olive one and just might need a stripey version for spring break.

But, really, highest on my wishlist is some real spring weather... so it's a good thing that on the actual agenda is a spring break trip, since Michigan spring doesn't come until at least April.

Wednesday wishlist

Lots of wishful thinking going on lately around here... and while my dreams of more spring-like weather are juuuuust starting to come true, my shopping desires are barrrrrrreely staying in my dreams, rather than in my cart (or mailbox). What's on my wishlist? Plenty of pretty things:

Wednesday wishlist

I've started trolling my favorite online shopping sites to put together my annual holiday gift grids, and there's some good stuff out there. Which means pretty much all I have so far is a wishlist of my own:

I'm not the only one who does this, right? At least I haven't bought myself any of it (yet).

What's on your holiday wishlist this year? Or on your list of gifts to buy? Any categories of giftees that I should make sure to include in this year's gift guides?

Wednesday wishlist: wine + Shopbop sale shopping

Wednesday... halfway through the week! And oh, I'm ready for a glass of wine. Things have been a little crazy around here with travel, childcare issues, birthday party planning, and so on, and in the midst of it I am spending today and tomorrow driving 1.5 hours away to help with interviews for a new position in my association. Thus - thinking that I could maybe use a glass of something red turned my Wednesday wishlist into a bit of a wine (or whine??) list, as you can see:
 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

Can't deny that this merlot color is so great for fall. And also can't deny that wine + online shopping might be a bad idea, but if you're in the mood, now's a great time to kick back with a glass and browse, because through Friday at midnight PDT Shopbop is offering 25% off your purchase (code MAINEVENT16; details/exclusions here).

This is a great time to go for any of these versatile, long-term type accessories, as many of these brands don't go on sale very often. All the bags and shoes I've ever invested in have been totally worth it, as they last a lot longer and make any basic outfit feel much more luxurious and polished. Sam Edelman is a favorite (finally trying out the Petty booties thanks to the discount!), and I always love the Madewell selections, like this great necklace. I think I'm going to use this sale to add a little camera bag to my repertoire - I love the size and a beautiful color like this to complement my fall/winter coats.
