reason #57 why I love working from home

Offsetting the pain of pesky emails with the coziest work spot I can think of.

Which is great because after a work trip and then a weekend, there is quite a pile of them today... So this is where I'll be sitting, feet up, staying toasty warm, and slogging through my many inboxes. At least it beats a cubicle Monday in my book...

I recently listened to a great Freakonomics Radio podcast on "temptation bundling," which is the idea of pairing a task that you don't want to do or tend to put off with one that you find very pleasurable, which gets you to do the unpleasant task, and to enjoy it more. Prime example here! What do you add to your Monday to make it more doable?

  1. I really hate editing my own writing so I often print out papers and take it to a café. Marking in a café is nice as well as long as your students aren't there to witnessing your grimacing and scowling at their work.

  3. So jealous! I used to be able to work from home on Fridays...but then we got a new boss and he doesn't allow that. So annoying, and I miss staying home when it's icy out. Enjoy it for me please?

  4. I only watch my favorite TV series on the treadmill! I keep my exercise goals for the week this way.

  5. I love this. On days when I work from home I allow myself a 20-minute coffee nap after lunch, and it makes my afternoon go by faster with that added energy. It's the nicest little treat!

  6. I briefly worked from home after my baby was born and was waiting for a spot to open up at her daycare. It was wonderful, and part of me is sad that it wasn't possible to do it long term. Though to be honest, I love my co-workers and the camaraderie of going into the office! The perfect mix for me would be a combination of work from home and at the office. :) As for Monday inspiration, I usually get myself a latte as a treat instead of the the usual K-cup coffee.

  7. I love that idea that the podcast talked about. Don't podcasts rock? Your little work space looks perfect! ;)

  9. Now that's a work day I could get used to! I totally agree with that philosophy. I try to make my Mondays more bearable by scheduling as little as possible and just relaxing in the evenings instead of trying to get everything done.

  10. That is very wise advice. I think doing almost anything cozied up next to a fire is enjoyable. I love being able to work from home a few days a week!
