styling: this faux suede moto jacket, on days the weather is cool enough. I pair it with jeans and a tee for an easy but chic outfit for going about town, and then for date night it's great over dresses for a cool vibe.
saving: so many books to my "to read" list, all the time. Right now I'm most excited to get my hands on Celeste Ng's new release, Little Fires Everywhere.
searching: for the perfect over-island lighting for our kitchen. I've been looking all summer and can't quite settle on something - I'm returning the ones in my mood board because they're not quite right - but now it's time to have something for the contractor to work with. Recent re-searching all of my go-to sites brought up this Crate & Barrel fixture as a new option that would make quite a statement. Time to call off the search?
picking: apples! We've had just a couple of days of fall-like weather in the last few weeks, and one of them matched up perfectly with Peter's afternoon off, so we headed to the orchard. We've got enough apples picked for Hendrik and me to make some applesauce with my grandparents tomorrow, which we're excited about.
making: plans to celebrate Hendrik's 4th birthday later this month. Trying to balance making it special with keeping it simple, given all that we have going on at the moment...but my DIY itch sometimes gets me into trouble - like, aren't these individual mason jar cakes adorable?

What are you currently up to? Join with me and co-host Dana of Something Good to share the early October happenings in your life - please be sure to stop by to say hi to her and a few others, and link up only related posts.
And then on November 1, co-host Julie of A Hopeful Hood and I will be talking about what we're currently realizing, stirring, appreciating, investigating, following. Sounds like it'll be a great Thanksgiving preview, eh?
I love that moto jacket! I wish it would cool off enough here to wear something like that!
ReplyDeleteLoving that light! I went back to your original board and I'm so sad those pendants are sold out....those were a great find!
ReplyDeleteWe happened onto the North Carolina Apple Festival a few weeks ago and enjoyed some fried pies! YUM! Hooray for apples, good books, and birthday parties! Thanks for hosting this each month!
ReplyDeleteThat moto jacket is so cute! I have wanted one like that for a while! We picked apples a few weeks ago and have been baking all sorts of goodies with them! I really love this time of year! I'm starting to think about 4th birthday party ideas too and also hope to keep it simple.

LOVE the jacket, so cuuuuute and fall!
ReplyDeleteLove your new moto jacket! I just got a similar one and I can't wait to wear it. I'll have to check out your book recommendation! Haven't read anything by that author and am always looking for suggestions. Thanks for the linkup!

Like I said on your 10x10 style post--I can't wait to see all the ways you style that jacket, since I have one that's very similar :)
ReplyDeleteAnd your "saving" is the story of my life. As soon as I read one book, I add 3 more. On a podcast recently (Reading Glasses) one of the hosts said, "you know, you will die with a TBR list" and I find myself thinking about that sometimes. But by gosh, I'm going to try to get through as many as I can! I also have Little Fires Everywhere on my list.
Love the moto jacket! Happy Birthday, Hendrick! I hope it's a wonderful day.

I'm loving all of the fresh apples lately! I've been planning to make a cranberry applesauce since we have so many (plus cranberries) from our CSA.
ReplyDeleteWhenever I plan a party, I just want to do all the DIY things. haha It really can get you into trouble. That jacket is so cute! I love layering in the fall.

I'd never heard of Little Fires Everywhere, but I'll be adding that to my read list too! I just checked out All the Light We Cannot See, so i'm hoping it'll be good! Thanks for hosting this wonderful link-up :)
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the DIY itch. Right now, I want to knit toques, mitts and scarves for the whole family this year. Keep in mind we will be needing them in approximately three weeks up here, and I get a whole 90 minutes a day when I don't have kids all up in my yarn, which is also when I get to do things like clean, blog and accidentally fall asleep on the couch failing to do anything I had planned.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to add a moto jacket to my wardrobe wishlist.
ReplyDeleteGood luck finding the right lighting!
Happy early birthday to Hendrik! I sure want to go apple picking one day!
ReplyDeleteMan the one flaw of the south no apple picking everyone is talking about it. I went as a kid it was fun!
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to read Little Fires Everywhere too! I have been saving so many must reads to Good Reads, because right now my ability-to-read time is about 0! Hopefully I will have plenty of time to catch up though once we hit the road.
ReplyDeleteI wish we had an apple orchard in my area - I love picking fresh fruit! Thanks for hosting "currently"!
ReplyDeleteLove that jacket, and the color. So easy to style it up or down, and perfect for this season! I also really like that lighting fixture for the kitchen, though I'd probably bump my head on it a lot lol! I'm such a klutz!
ReplyDeleteAlways look forward to reading what you are reading!! Will never get through my own to-read list but always willing to sub in your suggestions for some of my own titles.
ReplyDeleteNothing says fall better than apples (ok, maybe pumpkins). We are just back from a holiday to Germany where we enjoyed a delicious apfelstrudel. Going to try to replicate it at home.
I'm saving so many books to my TBR list too!! There just isn't enough time in the world to read all the books I want!!
