starting: to plan a carryon suitcase sized wardrobe for this month's trip to San Diego/Palm Springs. Definitely fun to daydream about bare arms and ankles when we're up to here in snow drifts...
hoping: to cross some things off my life list in 2018. I'm aiming for the items of: have a home tour featured online; take a bike trip; and learn to fold a fitted sheet (lofty goal!).
scheduling: a Blue Apron delivery, thanks to a freebie voucher sent over by my parents. I'm kind of excited the week we're trying has as one option this Top Chef challenge-winning recipe. And more excited to have all of my shopping and portioning done for a couple of meals next week.
reading: I have a new stack of books after Christmas... and I think I'm going to pick up Pachinko first, prompted by the New York Times top 10 for 2017 list. (Thanks, Mom!)
playing: preschooler board games. Hendrik got 3 of them for Christmas, and he's impressing me with his math skills on this Sum Swamp game - though if I try to "trick" him into doing more math by figuring out the sums when I roll, he's having none of it: "You have to do your own math, mommy."

I keep thinking about trying Blue Apron. I've heard good things about it! My daughter has been all about her board games from Christmas too! I'll have to check out the Sun Swamp game!

ReplyDeletePachinko was my favorite book of 2017--beat out Beartown and Lincoln in the Bardo. It's so beautiful, writing and the story.

ReplyDeleteFirst, I agree with Taz + Belly above. Love this link up! And I'm excited for your trip out here this month. Definitely pack a jacket in that carry on/bring one on the plane. It gets pretty chilly at night! (I know...I know...it's frigid everywhere else but most of my guests are surprised by the temps at night!)
ReplyDeleteChecking off life goals is a big thing! Especially the ones you’ve chosen! I can fold a fitted sheet but not well at all. I’m making my life goal list now. I’m sure it’s existed in various forms in my head but I’m hoping to get more traction once it’s on paper.

ReplyDeleteI'll have to check out that game for Jona. There's only so much Candyland I can take... I have Pachinko on my TBR, thanks for the reminder though to bump it up. There are so many, I can get lost! What a fun trip to plan too.
ReplyDeleteI'm always looking for new game ideas! I'll have to check that one out. We played a fun game on New Years with our friends called How Does Your Garden Grow that matches colors of veggies with seeds. It was pretty neat!

I LOVE the idea of a bike trip! Where do you think you would want to take it?! And one of the things I miss most about life on the road is the ability to participate in meal deliveries! We loved our TOP Chef Blue Apron recipes! Enjoy for me!

I'm just unsure of the pre-ordered meals because I'm somewhat picky about my ingredients! But, maybe it's somewhat customizable in that area?
