wearing lately: summer break

Well, here we are in the first official week of summer break. But what even is "summer" these days when my kid has already been home with me 12 weeks, and we're already on our second day hitting 90 degrees in my part of Michigan this year?! All the more reason to have a really easy go-to summer break uniform, which I have landed on already...

With Hendrik home all summer with me rather than at day camps or with a babysitter, and therefore with working entirely from my feebly air conditioned house rather than coffee shops or the library where I usually take refuge in the cool air when it gets super hot out, it's gotta (a) be comfortable for walking alongside a kid and his scooter and (b) be lightweight and make a cute outfit on its own without needing "extras" that will just make me too hot.

Enter this Everlane midi dress, which fits great, is nice and sturdy material but has a slit up the side for some air flow, and needs nothing more than a cute little sandal to look pulled together. It's inexpensive too (and there's a Target dupe even cheaper, if it fits you - the armpit holes were too big for me) Everlane has a way of winning me over on their dresses big time - I want to get it in all the colors (especially white) and just wear nothing else this summer.

Which I actually did with these sandals - I had them in the white/silver color for past summers and have worn them almost to death with how many miles I've walked in comfort in them (including all over Copenhagen last summer...ah, good times, travel of our past), so I decided to get them in my new favorite light pink color this summer. And besides wearing only this dress in every color version, the other thing I want to do this summer is wear all neutral outfits with this super cute pop of color on the bottom.

10/10 recommend both of these items already. And if later this summer we end up being able to go out and about more, I bet I'll recommend them even more, for looking cute where people can actually see me!
