discovering: lots of good podcasts lately. To add to my recent roundup list (topped by Accused), I'm also liking new-to-me Nerdette. And discovering these pretty wireless earbuds thanks to their sponsorship of another podcast favorite - would be handy for my new iPhone (still confused by this whole getting rid of the headphone jack thing).
celebrating: my good friend's recent engagement with loooooots of wedding talk and even a first look at dresses on our girls' weekend. (I think this manicure with subtle metallic accents is so pretty for showing off a ring!)
starting: to research places to stay and things to do/eat(!) in Palm Springs, which I think is going to be our anniversary getaway location this winter. Been taking notes from the Glitter Guide travel guide for starters.
wearing: my new ankle boots. I've been eyeing this Sam Edelman style forever and finally ordered during the recent Shopbop sale. The cognac color is so pretty and perfect for fall. And good thing, because we're starting to get into weather where my feet will freeze in my beloved flats...
googling: potty training tips. Ugh. I was so hoping turning three would give Hendrik the "big boy" motivation on this, but he's still not that interested (or outright resistant). Based on some tips I've read now, I think we might try the potty watch and some more cute books, like this Mo Willems one to push the message through without pressuring - get him thinking he's in control of the situation since clearly the more we push it the more he is definitely not interested.

I'm a big podcast listener too! I haven't done a podcast listening post in awhile. An anniversary trip sounds so nice. And Palm Springs?! Never been, but if it's warm I'd love to go. Potty training....I remember those days. The frustration, but when it finally happens (and it will!) the celebration of not changing and buying diapers/pull-ups! Thanks for hosting!

Those are such cute boots! Congrats to your friend :) I only listen to 1 podcast (The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey) but I've started thinking about listening to others! Good to know those are good ones :)

ReplyDeleteWe have been trying to potty train our daughter since this summer, when she turned 3. And she has zero interest even though she knows how. It's so frustrating! I feel your pain!
ReplyDeleteOh the potty training. We're still in the throes of this too. Some days are great but other days are still not so great! Here's hoping they figure it all out soon!
ReplyDeleteI did my bachelorette weekend in Palm Springs a few months ago. We AirBnB'd a house with a pool and had a blast. Highly recommend taking the "tram" up to the top of San Jacinto, and, if you're into something a little weird (but amazing), check out the Integratron.

ReplyDeleteI have potty training books galore that are geared for my girls- Diapers are not Forever is a favorite and so is the Daniel Tiger episode (season2) about having to go potty. Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteOnce the literal dust settles I'm planning on switching phone services + get new phones. I'm not sure what I'll do about the phone jack either. I heard there are adapters? I'm just worried I'll lose them!
ReplyDeleteI really need to get into podcast...I'll have to check out your recommendations. Potty training boys is hard. I sat my boys backwards on the real potty and that seemed to help them feel more comfortable. Also try food coloring...it will change colors when they pee. :) or cheerios they can aim at.

ReplyDeleteMy little one is so excited to start potty training. She insists on playing "potty" in the pantry (she sits on our flour canister and pretends it's a toilet), and every time after she, uh, goes number 2, she insists on sitting on a toilet "in case she's not done". But if you ask her if she wants to sit on the toilet, she runs and screams and holds it in for hours. Good thing she's barely two and I'm in no hurry to get rid of the diapers!

ReplyDeleteI just looked up the Accused podcast because I was curious, and now it's added to my list! I really enjoy a good crime story, and think I'm even more curious having it be about one that happened in Ohio since that's my home state. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the potty training process! Jacob just started knowing what a potty is (haha!) so we just bought him one this week but he has zero interest in using it. I feel like it's still really really early at his age though and I'm just hoping my approach of not pushing it doesn't bite us further down the road!
