to read: April's TBR

My goodness, March felt long this year, didn't it? I guess the good news about that is that I read all 5 of the books on my March TBR list - and several more on top of that. They were all quite different but (mostly) all great reads (didn't love The Giver of Stars though, unfortunately), and I even had my first 5-star book of the year in kids' chapter book The Wild Robot.

In our new world of anxious times and staying at home, I'm needing my books more than ever. It both seems like a good time to tackle some of the backlist titles that have been sitting on my shelves/Kindle for ages and a time to just let myself read whatever brain candy I want in order to escape. So I'm suggesting a combo of this for myself here - but I also give myself permission to change things up as the mood (or my library ebook holds list) strikes.

The Lager Queen of Minnesota - a book about beer makers in the Midwest sounds just so comforting right now, and finally there aren't holds on the library e-copy that I've been trying to get for ages. Yay!

Anna K - YA adaptation of Anna Karenina that sounds like a fun escape (and has been on my Kindle a while from Netgalley - but it's also been published by now, so you can get your hands on it too!).

The Wild Robot Escapes - sequel to The Wild Robot, which Hendrik asks me every single day if I've read yet...he's a little excited for me to pick it up now that I've finished the first book, so I've definitely got to get to it in April.

99 Percent Mine - this one's been on my Kindle for a while too, and it seems like a good time to get around to a frothy romance type book

The Lola Quartet - April's selection in my 2020 project of reading 10 backlist titles, this one has been on my shelf for a while but brought to the forefront since I have her new book, The Glass Hotel, on the list of things I really want to read (but am making myself do this one first!)

What are you planning to read this month? If you're looking for any particular type of book to distract yourself with, let me know and I'd love to help!
